Operating safety regulations should cover radiation protection, equipment inspection and emergency response:

1. Radiation protection: X-ray and gamma-ray flaw detectors require a controlled area (with door interlocks at its boundary) and a supervised area, and personal dose alarms must be worn. During exposure, no one may enter the controlled area.

2. Equipment inspection: Before operation, check the stability of the supply voltage, the reliability of the grounding and the condition of the cooling system (such as the forced-air cooling of the X-ray generator) to prevent overheating and damage.

3. Emergency response: If a source becomes stuck or radiation leaks, activate the emergency plan immediately, monitor the ambient dose with a radiation survey meter and evacuate personnel to a safe area.
