Product details

The machine is specially designed for connecting rods such as DK20, DK26, DK28, DK36, DC17, DC32, PS26, WD250, MAN23/30, MAN16/24, MAN21/31, MAN27/38 and MAN32/30.

It is a special-purpose combined magnetic particle inspection machine whose electrical and mechanical mechanisms are independent of each other. It consists of the power supply control system, machine tool system, clamping system, bracket system, circular magnetization device, longitudinal magnetization device, multidirectional compensation magnetization device for both ends of the part, demagnetization device, and magnetic suspension spraying and recycling system.

Circular magnetization: an electrode is paired with a second electrode to form a magnetic loop around the connecting rod.

Longitudinal magnetization: the axial field of a U-shaped three-dimensional magnetizer magnetizes the rod lengthwise, and its three-dimensional field is also used to inspect the connecting rod bore.

Combined magnetization: the electrode loop completes circular magnetization while the magnetizer applies the longitudinal field.

Because an AC field has uncontrollable polarity, multiple magnetizing channels and an offset effect, the polarity of the circular DC field is controlled to give a uniform field.

Owing to the skin effect, AC alone suits open defects no deeper than 1.5 mm and is less sensitive to hidden defects. AC/DC magnetization is therefore used, so that defects do not reappear during machining and cause costly rejections.

External coil port

Cable-wrap magnetization for oversized parts

Every machine's power cabinet has an external coil port. When a part is too large or heavy to load into the machine, connect a flexible cable to the port and wrap it around the part to form a coil, so the part can be magnetized where it stands.

MPI machine power cabinet with the external coil port: two copper terminals near the bottom of the centre doorCoil port
Cable-wrap magnetization: flexible cable wound in several turns around a large valve body on a pallet
Wrapped around the part
Cable-wrap magnetization: cable threaded through a bore in the end flange of the valve body
Threaded through a bore
